Congratulations to Maya Huffman!  She is the winner of the Oldest Class Ring Contest.  She brought in a ring from 1927 and will receive her class ring for free.

 

Attention Seniors who will be attending the Senior Academic Banquet on April 4th: your recording for the video presentation is due TODAY, March 24th!  That is a firm deadline.  Also, RSVPs for the event are due TODAY to the Main Office.

 

Attention all students: during homeroom today, freshmen, sophomores, and juniors will go to their homeroom.  Seniors will have a class meeting in PAC to talk details about the end of the year, including Prom and Graduation.

The Musician of the Week is senior violist Anna Yockey. A member of the Concert Orchestra, Anna has represented Northview at the BGSU String Kickoff Day and OMEA Solo and Ensemble. Here at Northview Anna participates in our A Capella Choir, Med Tech programs, is a wrestlerette, and a member of the track and field team.  After graduation, Anna will attend an undecided college to major in nursing. Anna is the daughter of Karen Dailey and John Yockey.

 

Attention students: There is tutoring for the State Tests (or AIR Tests) after school today.  The schedule is posted outside the main office and the guidance office.  Sessions run from 2:30-3:30.  Please attend to get more familiar with the test format and to review material that will be on the test.  All are welcome.

 

Attention seniors:  Are you planning on going to college? Have 100 hours of community services in the last 12 months?  The Sylvania Sunrise Lions Club scholarship may be for you – they have extended their scholarship deadline to April 1, 2017.

 

Several area scholarships have upcoming deadlines:  the Pyramid Lodge, Glass City Federal Credit Union, Whiteford Elementary, Oakleaf Village, Highland Elementary, SEA and the Sylvania Area Chamber of Commerce – many of these scholarships have minimal requirements which mean easy money for you!  Stop down to the Guidance Office and check out the scholarship drawer.

This year we are proud to announce that our featured guests UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN JAZZ ENSEMBLE, will perform at 7:45PM. The festival will also showcase many of the outstanding high school jazz bands from Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. Performances begin at 4:00 p.m. in the Northview Performing Arts Center. Plan to join us for a great time! There will be a $2 admission charge at the door for adults (students get in free with student ID)

Congratulations to the Northview’s 2017 Honors STEM Researchers! Students competed at the Ohio Academy of Science District Science Day last weekend earning 10 “Superiors”, 7 “Excellents”, and 7 Judges Awards which included scholarship money. Ten students qualified for the State OAS competition in Columbus. Additionally, Kayla Thielen, Camryn Pillar and Karen Pan qualified for Buckeye Science and Engineering Fair in Columbus, the qualifier for the International ISEF competition.

Researchers also presented their work at the Ohio Junior Science and Humanities Symposium last week at BGSU where Katie Mertens won ‘Best in Show’ Poster Presentation for the state of Ohio. Way to go, Wildcats!

 

Attention Juniors:  For the ACT tomorrow, please remember to bring regular pencils, not mechanical, a photo ID, and acceptable calculator.  Testing will start promptly at 7:35 AM, and you can check your testing room assignments outside of the Main Office, Guidance Office, or Cafeteria.  Also, if you have yet to turn in your form to leave when testing has completed, please return the form to Mrs. Bohland.

Alex Zuchowski, is the Musician of the Week. Alex has been a member of the Northview Band all four years of high school.  Alex has demonstrated strong musicianship, leadership, and a joy for music in many ways throughout his career here at Northview.  This year, Alex has been a squad leader, section leader, and principal horn of the Wind Ensemble.  Alex has a fun demeanor that he brings into the ensemble and shares with his peers while striving to perform at his best.  Alex has been a member of the Northview Marching Band, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, and Pep Bands.  Alex is also involved in Northview Varsity Hockey.  Alex is the son of Ann and Frank Zuchowski
