Congratulations to the Northview’s 2017 Honors STEM Researchers! Students competed at the Ohio Academy of Science District Science Day last weekend earning 10 “Superiors”, 7 “Excellents”, and 7 Judges Awards which included scholarship money. Ten students qualified for the State OAS competition in Columbus. Additionally, Kayla Thielen, Camryn Pillar and Karen Pan qualified for Buckeye Science and Engineering Fair in Columbus, the qualifier for the International ISEF competition.

Researchers also presented their work at the Ohio Junior Science and Humanities Symposium last week at BGSU where Katie Mertens won ‘Best in Show’ Poster Presentation for the state of Ohio. Way to go, Wildcats!

 

Attention Juniors:  For the ACT tomorrow, please remember to bring regular pencils, not mechanical, a photo ID, and acceptable calculator.  Testing will start promptly at 7:35 AM, and you can check your testing room assignments outside of the Main Office, Guidance Office, or Cafeteria.  Also, if you have yet to turn in your form to leave when testing has completed, please return the form to Mrs. Bohland.

 

Attention students: There is tutoring for the State Tests (or AIR Tests) after school today.  The schedule is posted outside the main office and the guidance office.  Sessions run from 2:30-3:30.  Please attend to get more familiar with the test format and to review material that will be on the test.  All are welcome.

 

Attention LadyKat Golfers, there will be a brief meeting today after school in the cafeteria for any girl interested in playing golf next school year.  Don’t miss the opportunity to meet the new LadyKat head coach.

 

Attention seniors:  Are you planning on going to college? Have 100 hours of community services in the last 12 months?  The Sylvania Sunrise Lions Club scholarship may be for you – they have extended their scholarship deadline to April 1, 2017.

 

Several area scholarships have upcoming deadlines:  the Pyramid Lodge, Glass City Federal Credit Union, Whiteford Elementary, Oakleaf Village, Highland Elementary, SEA and the Sylvania Area Chamber of Commerce – many of these scholarships have minimal requirements which mean easy money for you!  Stop down to the Guidance Office and check out the scholarship drawer.

 

ATTENTION FRESHMEN: There will be meeting of all class officers, reps and any freshman who would like help us to plan for Class Olympics. We will meet this Wednesday, 3/22, in D-7/Nelson’s room. See you there!

Applications for the Bricklayers Joint Apprenticeship Program will be accepted during the month of April.  You must be 18 years or older.  For more information please check out the Opportunities Board across from A2.

 

The 29th annual Northview Jazz Festival will be held on Wednesday, March 22nd.

This year we are proud to announce that our featured guests UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN JAZZ ENSEMBLE, will perform at 7:45PM. The festival will also showcase many of the outstanding high school jazz bands from Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. Performances begin at 4:00 p.m. in the Northview Performing Arts Center. Plan to join us for a great time! There will be a $2 admission charge at the door for adults (students get in free with student ID)

 

The Library Media Center is pleased to announce its next book club meeting! Wednesday, April 26th during lunches. We are reading Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. If you are interested in joining us, you can borrow a copy of the book from the Media Center.

 

Current lifeguards, if you need to update your lifeguard certification, there will be a class March 20 and 22nd. The American Red Cross has changed how they re-certify lifeguards, you must now take a longer class and there are new techniques to learn, so see Ms. Huey this week to sign up or email Ms. Huey for more information.

 

Attention All Senior Student Athletes: Applications for the Athletic Booster Club Scholarships are now available in the Athletic Office.  The Application deadline is April 13th.  Please see Mr. Irwin if you have any questions.

 

Attention seniors:  Have you applied and been accepted to the University of Michigan?  There is a scholarship opportunity available to you in the Guidance Office, please see Mrs. Kuebler.  The deadline is April 10, 2017.

 

Black Swamp Rowing is looking for dedicated, hardworking high school aged individuals to join the team for spring Season.
